¡Hola! Para tachar numero setenta y uno de lista, yo miré la pelicula “La Misma Luna”. For those of you who do not speak Spanish, or for those of you who do and still don’t understand what I wrote, I meant to say: In order to cross number seventy-one off of the list, I watched the movie “Under the Same Moon”. The idea to watch a foreign film spawned from my love of immersing myself in other cultures (in order to fill the void that I still have yet to leave the country). I chose this one because I figured it was about time to see how much brain drain has taken place since Spanish II. It is a Latin American film about a little boy living in Mexico who crosses the border by himself in order to live with his mother whom he hasn’t seen in four years. Honestly, I’m not so sure that it was a true Latin American film, so much as it was a Hollywood production using English subtitles. In fact, I found it to be a little too Hollywood… personally, I hate movies. I think the mainstream media has grossly embellished the worth of films these days, which is why I tend to stick to my classics. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve seen three movies in the past two days, but I just couldn’t get into this one. The plot was good, the characters were great (America Ferrera made a cameo appearance), and it held lots of emotion and tension. If you’re someone who loves movies of any kind, genre, or date of production, you’ll probably find this to be a great gem. Maybe I’m just bitter that my Spanish is not exactly up to par. Either way, I will definitely be watching more foreign films, because I think they offer great perspective into other cultures… and I’ll be brushing up on my Spanish notes. ¡Adios!
Love & Summer,
P.S. I almost forgot… well, I did forget. On Thursday AND Friday, I went all day without shoes. I just didn’t realize it! It was pretty insignificant, and not at all worth posting about. So consider this the official territorial marking on the fire hydrant. #50. Check! √
